Swimmin' in Color

As much as we love the mountains of Colorado, the last vestiges of summer were crying out for swimmin' with colorful fishes .... so off we went to Key Largo and snorkeling at Pennekamp. Magical.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Tree Huggers

We really love Colorado's Ponderosa pines.

Salida or Bust!

We camped at Lake O'Haver just outside of Salida, up Poncha Pass. Played around in rubber duckies all day .... until Benjamin let the air out of one of the sides of the boat and limped back to shore :) Luckily, not a big lake!

Boulder's Royal Arch

This lovely arch is the reward at trail's end ... a 2-mile hike each way in Boulder's adjacent foothills.

Mt. Lily Conquered

Benjamin, Durango and I conquered Mt. Lily this weekend -- (elev. 9712 ft) -- no doubt uncharted terrain -- wonder how those trail signs got there?.

Welcome back mountain summer!

Gotta love summer's first camping expedition -- OK, at least after all the gear has been successfully located, pulled out, and dusted off. Still, once the road's been hit, the mountains are in view, and the toes stay chilly all night -- we know camping has started again!

This weekend was Rocky Mountain National Park with a delightful walk-in tent site. No one around, just surrounded by majestic mountains, a fast-moving river, and the ever-large Colorado blue sky. Heaven!

Dreamin'

As always when I am blessed to move through it

.... inevitably wishing I had more time to spend in the San Luis Valley ....

Where are we?

Benjamin tries to orient himself by situating map
relative to those small peaks in the background :)

Welcome to a New Year

We spent New Year's in Pagosa Springs to check out the snow at Wolf Creek Resort.

We LOVED it as there were parallel runs suiting us both -- Benjamin got his first shot at blue run moguls and I worked on perfecting my c-turns on a blue/green right next door. There was TONS of snow, Colorado blue sky, and sore cheeks from smiles.

Gotta Love Fifth Grade In Colorado!

Benjamin and I have been taking full advantage of the Colorado Ski Industry’s promotation “5th grade passport” – which offers 3 free days at virtually all Colorado resorts. Even with a late snow start, we’ve been lucky to have a couple days snowboarding at Winter Park and Eldora with friends.
